MEET DR. K

Dr. Kaskas grew up in sunny Shreveport, Louisiana, where she enjoyed the best crawfish and pralines. She attended Centenary College of Louisiana on a full academic scholarship, graduating with a double major in Biology and Philosophy. She graduated from the LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport with Distinction in Research, where she founded the American Medical Student Research Journal and "Empathy in Medicine: The Good Doctor" elective. Dr. Kaskas received numerous national awards, including the American Medical Association Foundation Excellence in Medicine Leadership Award as well as first place in Cancer Biology at the 11th Annual American Medical Association Research Symposium.  

Dr. Kaskas completed a preliminary year of internal medicine training at LSU Baton Rouge, then her dermatology residency at the Warren Alpert School of Medicine at Brown University. During her training, she volunteered as the physician coordinator for the Rhode Island Hospital free skin cancer screenings as well as the Brown liaison for the Women's Dermatologic Society and received the American Academy of Dermatology International Society Travel Grant.  

Dr. Kaskas now serves as an academic board-certified medical and cosmetic dermatologist as part of the Mount Sinai Faculty practice in Union Square in downtown Manhattan. She was awarded the Teacher and Mentor of the Year Award from the Icahn School of Medicine Dermatology Department in 2021, and the Outstanding Dedication to Resident Education Award in 2024. She also serves as Medical Director of Mount Sinai Downtown Dermatology.

In addition to her passion for clinical dermatology, volunteering, and teaching, Dr. Kaskas has a strong interest in advancing the field of dermatology through research. She has over 20 publications, including a book chapter and journal articles, and has spoken at national dermatology conferences. She is also a Principal Investigator in Clinical Research.

Dr. Kaskas is the Co-founder of Dermatology Relief, a service organization whose mission is to improve the skin health of those living in resource-poor settings.  DermRelief is a free teledermatology platform that connects medical providers in crisis settings to dermatologists who they can digitally consult to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions of the skin, hair, and nails.

In her spare time, Dr. Kaskas enjoys traveling, making pizza, and watching cute animal videos.
